The rod seal is the most critical seal in a cylinder and must withstand high pressures. It seals the piston rod as it extends and retracts and prevents the pressurized operating medium from escaping from the cylinder into the environment. In doing so, it leaves part of the entrained fluid film on the sliding surface of the rod. This protects the piston rod against corrosion. At the same time, the sealing edge of the rod seal and the scraper lip of the scraper are lubricated.
DMH brand rod seal systems offer high efficiency and durability. They consist of rod seals and pre-seals. Depending on the application, they are designed as single-piece groove rings or lip seals, or as multi-piece compact sealing systems made of low-friction high-tech materials.
