Rotary seals are among the most commonly used seals for machine elements. They are located between two opposing machine parts, one of which rotates and the other remains stationary. One criterion for the design of a rotor seal is the circumferential speed of the shaft during operation. Oil seals must be leak-free, pressure-resistant, and highly resistant to chemicals and heat. These requirements are met by special seal geometries made of high-tech sealing materials that are tailored to the application.
